The hotel sector in France

According to the World Tourism Organization, in 2017, France welcomed approximately 89 million tourists, an increase of 6% compared to 2016. This figure places France in first place among the most visited tourist destinations internationally. As a result, the hotel sector is benefiting greatly from this resurgence in popularity and is also benefiting from the economic spin-offs of this growth.

The current situation of the French hotel industry

Towards the end of 2017, the hotel sector as a whole recorded an increase in occupancy of around 4% compared to 2016, particularly in the regions, where accommodation-related revenues increased by more than 2% compared to 2016 and by around 6% compared to 2013. Occupancy and average revenue per rented room increased by around 4% and 2% respectively.

Tourism in the regions, and particularly in conurbations, confirms its role as a driving force for hotel activity in France, contributing to the development of the entire sector. Not forgetting the large cities, which remain attractive and which contribute greatly to the growth of the sector.

In the same context, the accommodation capacity of the ten major metropolises has reached 3.8% in the period 2013 – 2018, and by 2020, around 2,600 rooms will have to be built, particularly in the luxury market.

As far as 2019 is concerned, the hotel sector will further benefit from the strengthening of tourism. Indeed, thanks to its current economic situation, which is rather favourable, France remains the most popular destination in the world. On the other hand, the revival of tourist activity in the hotel industry in the regions should continue. As for the large conurbations, growth will remain fairly stable.

The hotel business and satisfying demand

Since France is considered the world’s leading tourist destination, the players in the hotel sector make sure to take care of every hotel service, checking every detail and organizing the reception of guests, in order to preserve the quality of service that is unique to France. For example, the Château de la Cazine, a star-rated establishment located in the Limousin hinterland, offers its guests a wide range of services that contribute to their comfort and well-being.

As a result, the mission of accommodation and major hotels is to satisfy all the demands of even the most demanding guests. It is a delicate job that requires special personal qualities such as speed, good interpersonal skills, patience and mastery of a foreign language.

Moreover, it is this quality of service that makes the French hotel industry an important economic sector. The players in the sector, such as the Château de la Cazine, therefore set themselves a single final objective to achieve: the complete satisfaction of their guests.
