Trends in decoration and fashion change very quickly. So if you want to keep up with what’s going on now, it’s a job that requires a lot of investment, both in terms of time and money. Of course, some design trends are bound to last longer than others. Let’s take stock with interior designer Laurent Hosana.
Favour your desires
Tastes and colours are individual. Some people will prefer an industrial style of decoration while others will be more in search of a bohemian style. However, if we stick to decorating trends, our tastes often take a back seat. However, it is essential that our interior reflects our personality and desires so that we feel comfortable in it on a daily basis. So, it is not always essential to follow decorating trends, but it is important, on the other hand, to listen to our desires.
Follow the trend sparingly
Often, when we want to follow fashion, we tend to buy things without necessarily asking ourselves whether we like them or not. Laurent Hosana advises you to think carefully before buying a trendy item. He also advises you to focus more on classic furniture or accessories, which are capable of withstanding the years without going out of fashion. Eventually, small trendy items can be added to this classic furniture, without overdoing it. Moreover, the trend is often too present in the lower end of the market, which will take up elements made by great designers but with a much lower level of quality. Thus, trendy objects are often of poor quality and do not last over time. It is therefore preferable to choose quality furniture and accessories, which we then mix according to our desires, and why not trends!
