1. First of all, could you tell us about your background?
I’m a young entrepreneur who, after graduating, decided to start his own business and set up his own company.
2. Tell us about your most memorable experience?
Envir: When you lead a growing company you remember several milestones. If I had to pick just one, it would be the one where we decided to expand our geographical influence. There was an exceptional boom and our activity multiplied rapidly.
3. How was Envir born?
Envir: The Envir company was born out of the desire to create something new. Construction companies generally work on old bases. And you know as well as I do that there is food and drink in a very competitive environment like this one. The desire to provide new and effective solutions was the first motivation. Then to manage a company whose employees are fulfilled has always been my ambition. Only with happy employees will your customers be satisfied.
4. Envir is a specialist in energy renovation, can you tell us a little more about it?
Envir: We offer various solutions such as: renovation of roof and facade, ventilation solutions but also openings in the broadest sense. We also have the skills to work on insulation from the outside.
5. Does 1 euro insulation really work?
Envir: It’s a very interesting programme that works very well for private individuals. It is in line with the energy consumption standards imposed by European standards. Nevertheless, we must be vigilant. A few years ago we experienced the solar boom, a terrible commercial fiasco. Too many abuses and free sales. Today
we got insulation for a buck. It’s no more or less the same niche in which too many shady sellers fit in. We are not present on this market. Every serious company must be able to offer legal training to its employees so that the commercial discourse is clear and unambiguous. Some salesmen, or rather some do-gooders, are doubly damaging to the market. Not only do they impoverish households but they sully our overall image. This has to stop!
6. Who are your Customers?
Envir: Our clients are private individuals, owners of a house more than 10 years old. Concerned about their comfort and their consumption, we operate in the West of France.
8. Are you planning to hire new staff?
Envir : We double our orders from year to year. We are therefore looking for serious and competent French workers. We propose follow-ups to everyone. We plan to double our workforce within 8 months.
9. What is the sensitivity of the French people on the subject of energy saving?
Envir: The French are more and more encouraged to consume less. They are encouraged to do so by an ecological sensitivity, for the environment. Of course, we must protect our planet. But they are also sensitive to their wallet. Energy is more and more expensive, and taxes are reinvented every year. Since 2013, Envir has been developing real expertise in energy renovation within our company, for better consumption. Also to allow our customers to live in homes that respect the environment.
10. What are your plans for the future?
Envir: When you take a look at your situation, it is obvious that we have the logistical organisation and the know-how to offer our services over an even wider geographical area. This is our medium-term objective.
It’s good to develop, but you also need to secure your foundations. The company’s policy has always been the same since the beginning. We will develop serenely as long as the foundations are solid.
11. What is your management policy at Envir?
Envir: We reinforce technical but also legal training. In agreement with lawyers, jurists and professors we will make the market players aware of the situation beforehand. I invite the association UFC Choisir to join us in this initiative.
Everyone must understand that we can work together. Abuses must be punished and good initiatives must be put forward. Companies must denounce the practices observed on the market in collaboration with the competent authorities. Otherwise, they are complicit
12. What are the benefits of the solutions you propose for the environment?
Envir: For example, ventilation improves indoor thermal comfort by reducing humidity. Residents no longer feel cold and heating consumption is therefore reduced. Consequently, ventilation helps to protect the environment by reducing CO2 emissions. In the same way, the external insulation that we are able to offer also reduces the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Good insulation keeps the air inside your home warm in winter and cool in summer. In this way, heating and air-conditioning consumption is drastically reduced. Moreover, it is important to remember that walls represent the second largest source of heat loss in uninsulated houses (about 25%). The excellent thermal performance of external insulation or ITE thus allows significant energy savings and therefore protects the environment by reducing the environmental footprint of private housing through the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Many homes are qualified as thermal sieves and their renovation is therefore a priority. All individuals should consider renovating their homes (ventilation, insulation, roofing, etc.). Even if they represent a certain investment, the energy savings achieved quickly cover the cost of the work. But the main goal of any approach should be, first and foremost, to protect the environment.
13.Envir being an expert in ecological construction, can you tell us about the wooden houses, a real success in recent years?
EnvirThe timber frame house (MOB) is becoming more and more talked about. Indeed, wood is a good choice for respecting the environment while offering a different, design, innovative house. And icing on the cake, construction times are particularly fast!
The timber-frame house is becoming more and more attractive. According to the latest studies, one house out of 10 in France is a BOM. It must be said that wood perfectly echoes the changing expectations of the French, who want a high-performance house, with all the comfort, but with a constant concern for the environment.
Wood, a solid and perennial material if it is well protected from humidity, is easily accessible. Moreover, it offers a particularly interesting modularity during construction. It is indeed possible to envisage any type of style, from the most classical to the most contemporary, and any architecture, on the same level or on upper floors.
The advantages of a timber-frame house are numerous. In addition to its warm aspect, inviting to cocooning and conviviality, the MOB allows by its simplicity a construction, and even a self-construction, in a time advantageous for the purchaser. Deliveries are indeed possible in only 6 to 9 months!
And the BOM is also a judicious choice in terms of insulation: it benefits from the most efficient thermo-acoustic insulation, while respecting the environment, as our Envir expert explains. If the materials are of high quality, and the installation of the walls is carried out professionally, a timber-frame house offers better insulation than a so-called traditional house. Indeed, insulation can be installed on the uprights of the supporting structure, but also from the inside or outside. The house thus benefits from an insulation of 20 to 25 cm, a figure that is much higher than that of traditional walls (generally between 10 and 16 cm). The BOM is an ideal solution for an eco-responsible construction with high energy performance.
14. Web 2.0 has changed the rules and has not made this media evolve in the right direction, how do you manage the E Reputation of your company?
Envir: E-reputation is a bit like No Mans Land. There are no rules to frame news and fake news. Some time ago, we suffered an avalanche of false comments from malicious competition aiming to flee the company. It is of course necessary to adopt a commercial and security watch to protect one’s E-reputation.
