The condensing boiler, efficient and versatile
We were just talking about IRL floor heating. This type of floor works particularly well in combination with a condensing boiler, in the case of so-called low-temperature central heating circuits, because the return temperature of the floor, which is quite low, maximizes condensation and therefore saves energy. The condensing boiler does the same job as a conventional gas boiler: it provides heating and domestic hot water. It works by burning gas and thus produces heat, so far nothing special ! The difference with a conventional boiler is that it does not reject the water vapour contained in the smoke. The condensing boiler works by cooling the smoke until the smoke liquefies into water vapour, a technique that allows maximum heat recovery. By condensing all or part of the water vapour, the gas boiler will save 5 to 10% of gas consumption, while the amount of heat produced is the same. A condition for efficiency is that the return from the central heating circuit must have a temperature below 50°C, hence the interest of the association with the IRL underfloor heating system.
